Featured Dog - Duke

Duke is our Bullmastiff. We received him from a familly friend who was familiar with this breed and we trusted his opinion on the dog. We got Duke at 3 months old. He was a good puppy, very easy to train. As he got older he became a handfull. He was very hyper for this breed and we thought he would grow out of it. We got him neutered at 6 months old and hoped that would change his activity level. I had been interested in dog training but the couple places I had called just forwarded to voicemails and was left out in the cold.

About a week after his operation, he jumped up on April, and she corrected him but he jumped up harder causing him to overpower her and bite her a couple of times. We were both shocked about this behaviour and had to come to a decision about what we were going to do with him. I called Duke’s vet and explained to her the situation and she recommended one thing…The Wolfman. I called Mike and he answered his phone at 730pm. I explained to him the situation and he told me to come by the next night for him to show me what his training is all about.

We arrived at The Wolfman’s house to be greeted by Mike’s kids, Lex, Gator, Jazz, and Nitro. Duke was pulling me all over the place. Mike advised me that I was restraining him and not training him. Duke then got his first experience with The Wolfman who took him around the yard. Within minutes Duke was attentive and listening to Mike’s commands. I was amazed with the result and knew this is what we needed to help form Duke into the dog he is today. We went 2-3 times a week at the beginning and worked on the basics and Mike put us on a program that worked for both us and Duke. Duke was a slow learner and we had to be patient with the progress. There were times where Duke wouldn’t want to train so we had to turn around and go back home. Mike was quick to correct Duke’s faults and worked hard with us to push him forward in his training.

Duke is full of energy and loves to rough-house with other dogs. Mike suggested that I take Duke over the apparatus equipment before training in order to get rid of some of his energy. We kept truckin’ through the training and Duke loves going for the ride. He enjoys puppy parties on Sundays with all the other dogs.

The thing I love about The Wolfman’s training is his flexibility in hours and days to train. We have recently moved and were tied up with that. But we are now settled in and ready to get Duke back into the program. Duke is now 14 months and we are looking forward to completing the training with The Wolfman and we are sure Duke is too. Without The Wolfman’s guidance and training techniques, I don’t know where we would be today with Duke.

Thanks for your help and support Mike The Wolfman
