The Trials and Tribulations of Emma:
On February 17-2006 our family was thrilled to bring home our new dog Emma from the Upper Credit Humane Society. Emma was a 1 year old Springer Spaniel /Pointer cross (with a bit of hound in her we think). She was a lovely dog with a very gentle temperament and great with our two kids aged 3 and 6. The day after we got her we left the house for two hours to see my sons hockey game and we locked her in her new plastic crate with a double hinged steel door and left. When we came home we were surprised to see Emma at the front window and out of her crate, We were even more surprised to see the damage she had done to our house, for starters she ripped down all our curtains, chewed at the door and window frames, relieved herself a couple of times threwout the house and destroyed her crate. The crate now had a huge hole in it beside the locking mechanism therefore allowing the door to swing open (smart dog) and Emma badly cut her gums during this process. We bought a new steel crate the next day and it only took her about a week to pop all the metal bars off the front and once again have a free for all in our house while we stepped out for a short time, This time she ripped down and broke all the frames of our window screens and relieved herself on the carpets again. My wife went to talk to our veterinarian about this behavior and she recommended The Wolf Man in Georgetown. That same day my wife called Mike and talked to him for some time on the phone about these problems and Mike in turn gave my wife some suggestions on how to deal with Emma’s antics until we could visit him. From that point on Emma has never done a bit of damage to her crate or our house or Herself for that matter and this initial difference occurred after just 1 phone call, We had not even seen Mike yet or started any training. Once we started training Emma it was amazing to watch the difference in her after every session and it also became enjoyable to take her for a walk as she stuck right beside you and listened to your commands instead of dragging you all over the place. My now seven year old son helps to train Emma and she listens to his every command. We still take Emma to the puppy party, on Sundays which she thoroughly enjoys and we now enjoy a well mannered, well behaved dog that is great with our kids and a joy to have around. Mike is a genius with dogs and understands and has solutions for every behavioral problem that we have had. Mike has allowed us to enjoy and understand our dog’s needs and we now have an amazing family pet and a great relationship. I cannot thank Mike, Karen and Josh enough for the difference they have made in Emma and I would highly recommend their services to anyone . Thanks again,
